Martha’s Vineyard Illumination

Size: 78" x 80"

The village of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, is famous for the oldest working platform carousel in the world and the cluster of tiny cottages in the campground of the Martha’s Vineyard Meeting Association. What began as tents became tiny cottages in the 1860s, trimmed with ornate woodwork called gingerbread. The white appliqués are authentic designs including ones from our friends’ cottage.

“Grand Illumination Night” happens one night each summer in August. Three hundred cottages are decorated with paper lanterns and some are still lit with candles. It is a glorious sight!
